The newly appointed Chairman of the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA), Hon. Musa Sarkin-Adar has called upon the management team to phase out wooden boats in a bid to reduce accidents on the nation\u2019s waterways. This crucial directive came during his familiarization visit to NIWA’s Managing Director, Mr. Bola Oyebamiji, at the Authority\u2019s Abuja Liaison office.<\/p>\n

During the visit, Sarkin-Adar expressed gratitude for the warm welcome he received from Oyebamiji, emphasizing the need for NIWA to enhance water transportation connectivity across states. He underscored the importance of engaging the private sector in the development of water transportation, highlighting that government efforts alone are insufficient to achieve meaningful progress.<\/p>\n

Additionally, the Chairman encouraged Oyebamiji and his team to strive for excellence, aiming to leave a lasting legacy that future generations will remember positively.<\/p>\n

In response, Oyebamiji thanked the Chairman for his visit and acknowledged the hard work of the management team in advancing the inland waterways transportation sector. He noted that he is fortunate to lead a dedicated and experienced team, sharing the credit for their achievements.<\/p>\n
