{"id":5206,"date":"2025-04-04T11:45:36","date_gmt":"2025-04-04T11:45:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/beadysword.com.ng\/blog\/?p=5206"},"modified":"2025-04-04T11:45:47","modified_gmt":"2025-04-04T11:45:47","slug":"supreme-court-sacks-abure-as-labour-party-chairman","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/beadysword.com.ng\/blog\/2025\/04\/04\/supreme-court-sacks-abure-as-labour-party-chairman\/","title":{"rendered":"Supreme Court Sacks Abure As Labour Party Chairman"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"post-content\">\n<p>The Supreme Court on Friday removed Julius Abure as the National Chairman of the Labour Party.<\/p>\n<p>In a unanimous judgment, a five-member panel of the Supreme Court set aside the decision of the Court of Appeal in Abuja, which had recognised Abure as the party\u2019s national chairman.<\/p>\n<p>The apex court in its decision, held that the appellate court lacked the jurisdiction to make such a declaration, given that the substance of the case concerned the internal leadership of the party.<\/p>\n<p>The court emphasised that matters relating to party leadership are internal affairs, over which the judiciary has no jurisdiction.<\/p>\n<div class=\"read-also\">\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Furthermore, the Supreme Court noted that the appeal filed by Senator Esther Usman and another was allowed, being meritorious.<\/p>\n<p>The court also observed that, based on the submissions before it, Abure\u2019s tenure had already expired.
