{"id":5349,"date":"2025-04-13T18:24:57","date_gmt":"2025-04-13T18:24:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/beadysword.com.ng\/blog\/?p=5349"},"modified":"2025-04-13T18:26:25","modified_gmt":"2025-04-13T18:26:25","slug":"i-replied-seyi-tinubu-with-my-song-i-didnt-attack-him-eedris-abdulkareem","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/beadysword.com.ng\/blog\/2025\/04\/13\/i-replied-seyi-tinubu-with-my-song-i-didnt-attack-him-eedris-abdulkareem\/","title":{"rendered":"I Didn\u2019t Attack Seyi Tinubu, I Replied Him With My Song, \u2013 Eedris Abdulkareem"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"section-inner\">\n<div class=\"post-content detail-grid grid-alignright grid-allow-pullout\">\n<p><strong>Nigerian singer and rapper Eedris Abdulkareem says he didn\u2019t attack Seyi Tinubu with his new song, stressing that he only replied to a statement made by the entrepreneur that his father, President Bola Tinubu, is Nigeria\u2019s best-ever president.<\/strong><\/p>\n<div class=\"advert advert__leaderboard d-block\">\n<div class=\"ad__placeholder\">\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-1672569656851-0\" data-google-query-id=\"CPm2y5_Q1YwDFWmmUAYdQcU7Uw\">\n<div id=\"google_ads_iframe_\/7032479\/Article_Page_in_Article_1_300x250_0__container__\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>The younger Tinubu made the statement in Yola, the Adamawa State capital, in March 2025.<\/p>\n<p>The rapper said his new song \u2018Tell Your Papa\u2019 was not an attack on Seyi but a call for the president\u2019s son to tell his father to address Nigeria\u2019s economic and security challenges.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNigerian youths are just asking for basics: electricity, security, enabling economic environment, job creation and not palliatives,\u201d Abdulkareem said on Channels Television\u2019s<em>\u00a0Rubbin\u2019 Minds<\/em>\u00a0programme on Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo, why should I attack Seyi Tinubu personally? If Seyi Tinubu never talked about it, I wouldn\u2019t have recorded a song like that. So, I am replying to the video that he made. If he had kept quiet, I wouldn\u2019t have said anything. I am inspired by Seyi Tinubu to record that song.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) immediately tagged Abdulkareem\u2019s new song as inappropriate and banned it on the radio and television.<\/p>\n<p>The ban has been faulted by many Nigerians including Nobel Laureate, Prof Wole Soyinka, who described the development as a return of censorship and a threat to the right to free speech.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>During the television programme, Abdulkareem lamented that 24 years after he released a previous song, \u2018Nigeria jagajaga\u2019, the song is still relevant because Nigeria has not experienced the necessary development.<\/p>\n<p>He said, \u201cI was inspired by Seyi Tinubu to record the song. I saw a video where he was campaigning for his father, and he was defending his father, saying, \u2018My father is the best president, my father is the greatest president, they are coming for my father\u2026\u2019<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe (Seyi) repeated it like six times. But for Seyi, I differ because it looks more perfect when you are silent than when you speak. I would advise Seyi to hand over the microphone to the MC next time.
