{"id":5673,"date":"2025-05-05T16:49:17","date_gmt":"2025-05-05T16:49:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/beadysword.com.ng\/blog\/?p=5673"},"modified":"2025-05-05T16:49:17","modified_gmt":"2025-05-05T16:49:17","slug":"anti-party-activities-abure-labour-party-faction-set-to-probe-gov-otti-others","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/beadysword.com.ng\/blog\/2025\/05\/05\/anti-party-activities-abure-labour-party-faction-set-to-probe-gov-otti-others\/","title":{"rendered":"Anti-Party Activities: Abure Labour Party Faction Set To Probe Gov Otti, Others"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"grid-content-wrapper\">\n<div class=\"content-box-wrapper content-area\">\n<div class=\"entry-content-wrapper\">\n<div class=\"entry-content-inner-wrapper\">\n<p>The National Executive Committee (NEC) of the Labour Party (LP) under the leadership of Comrade Julius Abure has set up a five-member Disciplinary Committee to investigate the alleged anti-party activities of Abia State Governor, Alex Otti and \u201cother errant\u201d party members.<\/p>\n<div class=\"ad-container adsense  margin-top margin-bottom \">\n<div class=\"ad-container-inner\"><ins class=\"adsbygoogle ad-rectangle\" data-ad-layout=\"in-article\" data-ad-format=\"fluid\" data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-7532470883667401\" data-ad-slot=\"3307723066\" data-adsbygoogle-status=\"done\"><\/p>\n<div id=\"aswift_2_host\"><\/div>\n<p><\/ins><\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>This was part of the resolutions taken at an emergency NEC meeting of the party held at the party\u2019s National Secretariat in Abuja, on Friday.<\/p>\n<div class=\"ad-container\">\n<div class=\"ad-container-inner\">\n<div id=\"desktop_1\" class=\"vanguard-admanager\">\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-1731826620397-0\" data-google-query-id=\"CNHn5s7ijI0DFdmA_QcdUk0XaQ\">\n<div id=\"google_ads_iframe_\/9223985\/vanguardmobilemiddle1_0__container__\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-1740477577484-0\" data-google-query-id=\"CNDn5s7ijI0DFdmA_QcdUk0XaQ\">\n<div id=\"google_ads_iframe_\/9223985\/1*1-mobile-and-desktop_0__container__\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Members of the Committee are: Dr. Ayo Olorunfemi (Chairman), the party\u2019s National Secretary, Alhaji Umar Farouk Ibrahim ( Secretary) and National Legal Adviser, Barr. Kehinde Edun.<\/p>\n<p>Others are: Mrs. Dudu Manuga and Barr. Callistus Ihejiagwa.<\/p>\n<p>The embattled LP. National Chairman, Abure, who read the outcome of the NEC meeting, said, \u201cNEC reviewed the anti-party activities of Dr. Alex Otti, the Abia State Governor and other erring members and consequently set up a disciplinary committee. The committee is given two weeks to submit its report.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Abure further said, \u201cNEC Confirmed its directive for the issuance of NOTICE of the 2024 National Convention of the Party, which notice was given to INEC on 04\/12\/2023. NEC equally confirmed its directive for subsequent Notices of change of date and venue for the 2024 National Convention, which is held at Nnewi on 27\/03\/2024.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNEC confirmed its ratification of the list of ADHOC delegates, elected from the Congresses in the 36 states and the FCT, to the 2024 National Convention, which ratification was granted at the NEC meeting held in Asaba on 20\/03\/2024.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNEC confirmed that the 2024 National Convention was held under the CFRN, 1999, the Electoral Act, 2022, the 2019 LP Constitution, INEC Regulations and Guidelines for Political Parties, 2022 and the LP Guidelines for the 2024 National Convention.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c NEC confirmed the validity of the 2024 National Convention and stands by its outcome.<\/p>\n<div class=\"ad-container remove-pseudo\">\n<div class=\"ad-container-inner\">\n<div id=\"ad_placement_incontent_ad_2\" class=\"vanguard-admanager\" data-display-index=\"3\" data-processed=\"true\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" start=\"5\">\n<li>NEC reiterates its support and confidence in the NWC elected at the 2024 National Convention and its belief in the competence and capacity of the NWC elected at the 2024 National Convention, led by Barrister Julius Abure as National Chairman, to continue to steer the Party towards unity, progress and victory in the coming elections.<\/li>\n<li><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>\u201cNEC commends Nigeria\u2019s Apex Court for standing on the sound principle of the supremacy of political parties, and the sanctity and bindingness of decisions taken by the validly convened recognised organs as created by the Party\u2019s Constitution, in its decision delivered on 04\/04\/2025.<\/p>\n<div class=\"wp-block-dx-blocks-related-news related-posts-block\">\n<h4 class=\"block-title\"><\/h4>\n<\/div>\n<p>\u201cNEC expressed its commitment to continue to seek peace and reconciliation within the ranks of the Party and again extends an olive branch to all aggrieved members of the party to sheath their swords in the overall interest of the Party and our dear Nation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNEC reiterated its belief in the Nation\u2019s Democracy and the party\u2019s commitment to its growth and deepening as the only means to national development.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Count LP out of a coalition of opposition parties<\/p>\n<p>Speaking about the much-talked-about coalition of opposition parties ahead of the 2027 general elections, Abure declared that, \u201cthe Party is not and will not be part of any coalition towards the 2027 General Election.<\/p>\n<div class=\"ad-container hide-on-amp\">\n<div class=\"ad-container-inner\">\n<div id=\"ad_placement_incontent_ad_3\" class=\"vanguard-admanager\" data-display-index=\"4\" data-processed=\"true\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>\u201cThe Party will rather continue to rebuild, reposition, re-strategise, reconcile, strengthen, drive its programs and policies, win more members towards winning the 2027 General Elections.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Abure also announced that the party\u2019s NEC congratulated Chief George Moghalu, who emerged winner and the Party\u2019s candidate for the 2025 Anambra State Governorship Election at the Governorship primaries held in Awka on 05\/04\/2025.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, the party\u2019s NEC is already rallying all members and Ndi Anambra to support Chief George Moghalu for the Anambra State Governorship Election for a greater Anambra State.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier, Abure took a swipe at the party\u2019s only Governor, Alex Otti of Abia State whom he described as a physical and intellectual \u201cdwarf\u201d, who he said has spent his time in office playing divisive politics.<\/p>\n<p>He said, \u201cWithout sounding immodest, we made Governor Otti and all those elected party members who are fighting us today. Otti went on national Television and tried to mislead the public about the Supreme Court judgement.<\/p>\n<div class=\"ad-container\">\n<div class=\"ad-container-inner\">\n<div id=\"ad_placement_native\" class=\"vanguard-admanager\" data-display-index=\"5\" data-processed=\"true\" data-google-query-id=\"CMTq2e_ijI0DFW3REQgd1sofoA\">\n<div id=\"google_ads_iframe_\/9223985\/VanguardNative_0__container__\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>\u201cHe used derogatory words to describe our executive and even went to the extent of saying we were \u2018masturbating\u2019. I\u2019ve never seen such an ingrate.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Abure said, the party had expected Otti to meet with the NWC after he was elected to express gratitude for its massive support and sacrifice made to ensue he not only got the party\u2019s ticket but also won the election.<\/p>\n<p>Abure spoke in response to Governor Otti\u2019s comments in an interview he granted Arise Television.<\/p>\n<p>Otti had in the interview in question said among other things that, \u201cThe issue is that the party that brought me to power is Labour.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOkay? And today we have fought and retrieved Labour. So, and I said I will send you the Supreme Court judgment. When you finish reading it, you will know that Abure is just masturbating.
