Umo Eno, the governor of Akwa Ibom, has pointed fingers at \u201cpolitical detractors\u201d for his daughter\u2019s recent outburst against him. The incident came to light through a viral video featuring Jane Ufot, Eno\u2019s daughter, where she appears to accuse her father of \u201csacrificing\u201d her late mother, Patience Umo Eno.<\/p>\n

Patience Eno passed away on September 27, 2024, after a prolonged illness. In the widely circulated clip, Ufot pleads, \u201cDaddy, please. Let us talk before this thing destroys. I\u2019m not a sacrifice, mummy was, but I\u2019m not.\u201d<\/p>\n

She then turns to her mother\u2019s memory and says, \u201cGrandpa, do you want them to kill us? Do you want them to die like my brother and baby brother died?\u201d She adds a sombre warning: \u201cIf I die today or my daughter dies\u2026 if we die because God is exposing the truth, so be it. But my blood will not go scot free.\u201d<\/p>\n

In response to these serious allegations, Eno addressed the issue on Saturday, suggesting that the timing of the video raises suspicion. He explained that it was recorded shortly after his wife\u2019s passing, and attributed his daughter\u2019s emotional outburst to the trauma of losing her mother.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are in political times, so you expect more of that,\u201d Eno said. \u201cMy family is intact, and the incident she referenced happened immediately after my wife died last year.\u201d He questioned why the video is surfacing now, just before the second anniversary of his wife\u2019s death, suggesting that detractors could be behind its release.<\/p>\n

Eno emphasised that his family remains united and appealed for understanding. \u201cThe pressure children face when they lose a loved one can be overwhelming. I urge the public not to dredge up sad memories. It\u2019s enough that I\u2019ve lost my wife, and I pray she rests peacefully. I won\u2019t be distracted \u2014 I am focused on serving the people of Akwa Ibom.\u201d<\/p>\n
