A former presidential media aide, Reuben Abati, has hit back at Lere Olayinka, a media aide to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.<\/p>\n

Olayinka, appearing on the Arise News\u2019 breakfast programme, \u2018The Morning Show\u2019, on\u00a0Friday, made several allegations.<\/p>\n

One of the claims \u00a0Wike\u2019s media aide,\u00a0Lere Olayinka<\/strong>, had claimed Abati, alongside his wife, had begged the former Rivers State Governor for money to settle a case with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n

\u201cI have never approached Minister Nyesom Wike to beg for money \u2013 that is a lie.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf anyone, including an ex-partner, went to him under false pretences to solicit funds in my name, I place a clear disclaimer.<\/p>\n

\u201cSuch actions were not authorised by me, and Minister Wike reserves every right to call it out as fraud,\u201d Abati said in a statement posted on social media on Saturday.<\/p>\n

Addressing another allegation, Abati insisted that he was never asked by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, to return any money.<\/p>\n

Abati claimed that the EFCC under former chairman Ibrahim Magu apologised to him over the issue.<\/p>\n
