He paid tribute to the courageous heroes of the 1993 presidential election\u2014the fairest and most transparent in Nigeria\u2019s history, but ultimately annulled\u2014and acknowledged their sacrifices in laying the foundation for Nigeria\u2019s democracy.<\/p>\n
The governor highlighted the pivotal role played by pro-democracy champions, including President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, whose relentless efforts contributed to the democratic freedoms Nigerians enjoy today.<\/p>\n

Reaffirming Kogi State\u2019s unwavering commitment to the principles of democracy, justice, inclusion, and accountability, Governor Ododo assured residents that his administration would continue to prioritise a people-centred leadership model. He pledged to deliver tangible results in key sectors such as infrastructure, agriculture, healthcare, and security.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are not just beneficiaries of the democracy fought for with blood and sweat; we are the custodians of its promise,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n
The governor emphasised that democracy flourishes when it is participatory and transparent. His administration is focused on strengthening institutions, promoting transparency, and empowering citizens, especially the youth, to actively participate in governance.<\/p>\n
\u201cTo our youth, you are not the leaders of tomorrow; you are the guardians of our democracy today. This democracy belongs to you,\u201d he told them.<\/p>\n
He also called on traditional rulers, religious leaders, civil society organisations, and public servants to lead by example, underscoring that the true measure of democracy is not titles or rhetoric but the tangible improvements in the lives of ordinary people.<\/p>\n
\u201cDemocracy is strengthened not by titles or speeches but by service\u2014and by results,\u201d Ododo said.<\/p>\n
The governor urged citizens to remain vigilant against forces that threaten national unity, emphasising the importance of defending democratic values against threats of division and disruption that undermine Nigeria\u2019s progress.<\/p>\n
In alignment with the national development agenda, Ododo reaffirmed his full support for President Tinubu\u2019s Renewed Hope Initiative, pledging to work tirelessly to realise its goals.<\/p>\n
