During a recent interview on Channels Television, Adaramodu dismissed the idea of a part-time parliament, warning that such a move would effectively mean a part-time democracy. “If the parliament is part-time, then it means democracy is part-time,” he emphasised. \u201cThere is no democracy that derides its parliament and still thrives.\u201d<\/p>\n
Adaramodu, a member of the ruling party representing Ekiti South Senatorial District, underscored the vital roles played by members of Nigeria\u2019s legislative chambers\u2014the Senate and the House of Representatives. With 109 Senators and 360 House members, these lawmakers shoulder not just the responsibility of crafting laws but also of conducting oversight and advocating for their constituents.<\/p>\n
He highlighted the accessibility of the legislature to ordinary Nigerians, noting that lawmakers are involved in various aspects of community life, from supporting births and naming ceremonies to assisting with housing projects. “We go home almost every time, and when new babies are born or old houses need repair, people turn to us for help,” he said.<\/p>\n
