The Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, has met with Benue State\u2019s two foremost traditional rulers as part of a presidential directive to establish a strategic peace committee aimed at ending the lingering violence in the state.<\/p>\n

The meeting, held in Benue, brought together the Tor Tiv, His Royal Majesty Orchivirigh Prof. James Ayatse, and the Och\u2019Idoma, His Royal Majesty Agabaidu Elaigwu Odogbo Obagaji John.<\/p>\n

It marked the beginning of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu\u2019s renewed intervention to restore peace and security in Nigeria\u2019s food basket.
\nSpeaking during the engagement, Senator Akume conveyed President Tinubu\u2019s deep concern over the spate of violent attacks and described the situation as \u201cheartbreaking.\u201d He reiterated the Federal Government\u2019s commitment to halting the bloodshed and restoring stability in Benue and across the country.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe President is determined to end the senseless killings in the food basket of the nation,\u201d Akume stated.<\/p>\n

According to a statement issued by the Director of Information and Public Relations, Office of the SGF, Segun Imohiosen, the SGF urged the royal fathers to maintain vigilance in their domains.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe want to appeal to you to continue to stay vigilant so that miscreants do not infiltrate the communities. Whenever you observe a breach, do not hesitate to inform us. The President will never disappoint you,\u201d Akume assured.<\/p>\n
