The Tincan Island Port is experiencing a technological transformation with the introduction of “B’Odogwu,” an indigenous customs unified management system. Comptroller Frank Onyeka highlighted the platform’s potential to address shortcomings within the Nigeria Integrated Customs Information System (NICIS), which he noted was previously controlled by foreign entities.<\/p>\n
Comptroller Onyeka emphasised that B’Odogwu aims to streamline customs clearance, reduce container release times, and eliminate issues such as multiple alerts on cleared containers.<\/p>\n
He credited the Comptroller General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi MFR, for fostering innovation and leadership within the Nigeria Customs Service.<\/p>\n
Assistant Comptroller Abass Oyindamola, the project manager for B’Odogwu, explained that the platform provides real-time solutions to trade-related problems, reduces delays that lead to demurrage, and promotes transparency and accountability.<\/p>\n
