If he calls on me to work with him, I will simply say, \u2018Thank you, sir\u2019 and I will do it,\u201d Barau said.<\/p>\n<div id=\"show360playvid\" class=\"360playvidUnit\">\n<div class=\"cleanslate360pv\">\n<div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<p class=\"ai-optimize-10\">The Kano-born lawmaker stressed that it was too early to talk about 2027 politics, saying the focus now should be on governance and supporting the President\u2019s efforts to develop the country.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ai-optimize-11\">\u201cMr President has been working hard to reposition Nigeria and tackle the problems he inherited.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ai-optimize-12\">He is a kind-hearted and open-minded leader who stood by me when I faced challenges in Kano.<\/p>\n<div class=\"ad-container desktop-only margin-top margin-bottom \">\n<div class=\"ad-container-inner\">\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-1652278950647-0\" class=\"\" data-google-query-id=\"COK5vY33jo4DFUBY9ggdKBUJ7A\">\n<div id=\"google_ads_iframe_\/31989200\/rvp-desktop-1_0__container__\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"ai-optimize-13\">\u201cThe President is the father of the nation. But for now, we stand by him, we are working with him, and we want him to succeed. When he succeeds, we all succeed,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ai-optimize-14\">Barau added that some groups pushing for him to be vice president meant well, but he had advised them to focus on supporting Tinubu\u2019s administration instead of engaging in premature politicking.<\/p>\n<div class=\"read-also\">\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"ai-optimize-15\">\u201cWhen the time comes, we will talk politics. For now, let us face governance and support Mr President to succeed. When he succeeds, we all succeed,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ai-optimize-16\">He reiterated his commitment to the ideals of the progressive political family to which both he and Tinubu belong, adding that loyalty remained a core value of his political journey.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ai-optimize-17\">\u201cI am a progressive to the core, and loyalty is something I cherish deeply. I am 100 per cent loyal to Mr President,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ai-optimize-18\">Barau also used the briefing to highlight preparations for the zonal public hearings of the Senate Committee on Constitution Review, which he said would deliberate on 59 bills and 31 proposals already submitted.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ai-optimize-19\">He noted that further contributions from Nigerians were expected in the form of memoranda during the hearings, which would be held across six geopolitical zones.<\/p>\n<div class=\"ad-container  margin-top margin-bottom \"><ins id=\"ad_685d2606d5db7\" class=\"adsbygoogle\" data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-7167863529667065\" data-ad-slot=\"7613074554\" data-ad-layout=\"in-article\" data-ad-format=\"fluid\" data-full-width-responsive=\"true\" data-adsbygoogle-status=\"done\" data-ad-status=\"filled\"><\/p>\n<div id=\"aswift_3_host\"><\/div>\n<p><\/ins><\/div>\n<p class=\"ai-optimize-20\">The zones are Ikot Ekpene, Akwa Ibom (South-South) \u2013 chaired by Senate President Godswill Akpabio or his representative; Kano (North-West) \u2013 chaired by Barau Jibrin; and Lagos (South-West) \u2013 chaired by Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ai-optimize-21\">Others are Jos (North-Central) \u2013 chaired by Deputy Senate Leader, Lola Ashiru, Maiduguri (North-East) \u2013 chaired by Chief Whip, Tahir Monguno and Enugu (South-East) \u2013 chaired by Deputy Chief Whip, Peter Nwebonyi.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ai-optimize-22\">The hearings aim to gather public input on proposed constitutional amendments.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"author-summary\"><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Deputy President of the Senate, Barau Jibrin, has declared that he will fully support President Bola Tinubu\u2019s decisions regarding the 2027 general election, including any move to pick him as running mate.
