Heavyweight politicians from across Nigeria\u2019s opposition spectrum have converged at the Shehu Musa Yar\u2019Adua Centre in Abuja for a high-powered media conference convened by the Africa Democratic Congress\u00a0 (ADC).<\/h3>\n

T<\/strong>he event, originally scheduled to take place at the Wells Carlton Hotel in Asokoro today (Wednesday), was abruptly relocated after a last-minute cancellation by the hotel management, who cited an \u201cinternal compliance matter\u201d.<\/p>\n

Despite the change of venue, the turnout was massive. Former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, Labour Party\u2019s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, and ex-Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai, were among the top figures who took their seats as the ADC formally unveiled itself as the preferred platform for a planned coalition of opposition forces ahead of the 2027 general elections.<\/p>\n

Other notable figures present at the historic gathering include former Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi, former Senate President, David Mark, Senator Ireti Kingibe, former Sports Minister, Solomon Dalung, media mogul, Dele Momodu, former Imo Deputy Speaker, Emeka Ihedioha, and former Benue Governor, Gabriel Suswam.<\/p>\n

Former Osun State Governor, Rauf Aregbesola, who now serves as interim national secretary of the ADC, was on the ground to welcome attendees.<\/p>\n

Also present was former Sokoto governor, Aminu Tambuwal, signalling the North-West\u2019s alignment with the emerging coalition.<\/p>\n

The wide array of political figures cut across the People\u2019s Democratic Party (PDP), Labour Party (LP), and Social Democratic Party (SDP), all reportedly in talks to join forces under the ADC umbrella.<\/p>\n

Earlier in the day, Dele Momodu shared a screenshot of the cancellation notice issued by the original venue, Wells Carlton Hotel, which attributed the withdrawal to internal regulatory concerns.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
