The Nigerian Senate has officially acknowledged the recent court judgment concerning Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan. In a statement issued in Abuja, Senator Yemi Adaramodu, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Media and Public Affairs, explained that the absence of the CTC prevents the Senate from taking any action that could jeopardise its legal standing.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria recognises that a judgment was delivered on July 4th by the Federal High Court, Abuja, in the suit filed by Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan,\u201d<\/em>\u00a0he said.\u00a0\u201cHowever, we have not been officially served with the certified true copy of the judgment, and our legal team, which was present during the proceedings, confirmed that the complete judgment was not read in open court.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n Adaramodu further clarified that the Senate has formally requested the CTC to facilitate a thorough legal review. This step is vital, especially since it remains uncertain whether the court issued a direct order nullifying Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan\u2019s suspension.<\/p>\n \u201cUntil we receive and scrutinise the CTC, and based on legal advice, the Senate will not take any action that could prejudice its legal position,\u201d<\/em>\u00a0he assured.<\/p>\n The senator also reaffirmed the Senate\u2019s commitment to upholding the rule of law and promised that any subsequent decisions will be made strictly under Nigeria’s Constitution once the court\u2019s ruling is fully understood.<\/p>\n As the Senate patiently awaits the official court documents, it has urged the public to remain calm and trust that due process will be followed.
