The remains of Nigeria\u2019s former President, Muhammadu Buhari, have been buried in his hometown of Daura, Katsina State.<\/p>\n

The janaza (Islamic funeral prayer) was conducted at approximately 4:50 pm on Tuesday before his body was lowered into the grave by Islamic rites.<\/p>\n

Buhari\u2019s body had earlier arrived in Katsina from London aboard a Nigerian Air Force aircraft, accompanied by Vice President Kashim Shettima, Chief of Staff to the President Femi Gbajabiamila, and other top government officials.<\/p>\n

President Bola Tinubu, who also arrived in Katsina on Tuesday afternoon, attended the funeral alongside Nigeria\u2019s First Lady, Senator Remi Tinubu, and Senate President Godswill Akpabio.<\/p>\n

A high-powered delegation from the Republic of Niger was likewise present, underscoring Buhari\u2019s influence beyond Nigeria\u2019s borders.<\/p>\n

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar confirmed his presence via a post on X (formerly Twitter):<\/p>\n

\u201cI just arrived in Daura for the interment of former President Muhammadu Buhari,\u201d he posted earlier.<\/p>\n

Hotels across Katsina metropolis had been fully booked since Monday as dignitaries, diplomats, military chiefs, and political allies trooped into the state for the burial.<\/p>\n

President Tinubu on Sunday evening announced that Buhari died at about 4:30 p.m. in London, United Kingdom, following a prolonged illness.<\/p>\n
