{"id":808,"date":"2024-05-20T08:27:35","date_gmt":"2024-05-20T08:27:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/beadysword.com.ng\/blog\/?p=808"},"modified":"2024-05-20T08:27:56","modified_gmt":"2024-05-20T08:27:56","slug":"anxiety-mounts-as-tinubu-set-to-review-ministers-performance","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/beadysword.com.ng\/blog\/2024\/05\/20\/anxiety-mounts-as-tinubu-set-to-review-ministers-performance\/","title":{"rendered":"Anxiety Mounts As Tinubu Set To Review Ministers\u2019 Performance"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"mvp-content-body-top\" class=\"left relative\">\n<div id=\"mvp-content-main\" class=\"left relative\">\n<h2>President Bola Tinubu set to receive the performance evaluations of his cabinet members this week.<\/h2>\n<p>As the Administration approaches its one-year anniversary next week, the ministers will have served nine months in office by tomorrow, having taken their oaths on August 21, 2023.<\/p>\n<div class=\"code-block code-block-18\">\n<div id=\"M797873ScriptRootC1304679_1126a\">\n<div id=\"MarketGidComposite1304679_1126a\">\n<div class=\"mgbox\">\n<div class=\"mgline teaser-18870086 type-w\" data-i=\"Tv8WmnxnsU82p1rKLvkDxb5URHxPbFvgY_RQrLHGoegTexPifycc-TZhRD88JQSSNoA9t08AQCYm299TVOfbVCUVgt_uWn8MzAPiEOQruhw*\" data-observing-start=\"1716128845040\" data-observing-time=\"1037\" data-showed=\"1\">\n<div class=\"image-with-text\">\n<div class=\"text-elements\">\n<div class=\"text_on_hover\">\n<div class=\"mgtobottom\">\n<div class=\"mcdomain\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>The performance evaluations of special advisers and heads of key departments and agencies are also expected to be presented to the President.<\/p>\n<p>The President initially inaugurated 48 ministers, but the count has dropped to 46.<\/p>\n<div class=\"code-block code-block-19\">\n<div class=\"c-ad \">\n<div class=\"c-ad__label\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Minister of Labour and Employment, Simon Lalong resigned on December 20 after winning his Court of Appeal case to take his Senate seat.<\/p>\n<p>Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Dr. Betta Edu, has been suspended since March 6 to facilitate an investigation into allegations of misconduct within her ministry.<\/p>\n<p>The cabinet is on edge, fearing that the assessment report could result in a reshuffle or the removal of specific ministers.<\/p>\n<div class=\"code-block code-block-20\">\n<div class=\"c-ad \">\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-4577410-5\" data-google-query-id=\"CLnYxvTmm4YDFWtI9ggdDfYGPg\">\n<div id=\"google_ads_iframe_\/18855965\/In_content4_0__container__\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>The report, compiled by Hajiya Hadiza Bala-Usman, who serves as the Special Adviser on Policy and Coordination and the Head of the CDCU, is subject to the President\u2019s final approval.<\/p>\n<p>The criteria for assessing the ministers\u2019 performance were outlined following the retreat that took place after their inauguration.<\/p>\n<p>This assessment is based on the deliverables of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) members across the administration\u2019s eight priority areas, which include:<\/p>\n<div class=\"code-block code-block-22\">\n<div class=\"c-ad \">\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-4577410-7\" data-google-query-id=\"CLvYxvTmm4YDFWtI9ggdDfYGPg\">\n<div id=\"google_ads_iframe_\/18855965\/Sidebar_Direct_0__container__\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>\u2022 Reforming the economy to deliver sustained and inclusive growth;<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Strengthening national security for peace and prosperity;<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Boosting agriculture to achieve food security;<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Unlocking energy and natural resources for sustainable development;<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Enhancing infrastructure and transportation as enablers for growth;<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Focusing on education, health, and social investment as essential pillars of development;<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Accelerating diversification through industrialisation, digitisation, creative arts, manufacturing, and innovation; and<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Improving governance for effective service delivery.<\/p>\n<p>The CDCU has been conducting quarterly performance evaluations of the ministers. While an interim report has been submitted, the first-year assessment is deemed \u201ccritical\u201d in determining the trajectory for the remaining 36 months of the President\u2019s first term.<\/p>\n<p>At the commencement of the evaluation process, Hajiya Bala-Usman said: \u201c<em>For each of these priority areas, we agreed on specific deliverables and developed Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), which formed the basis for the Performance Bond which all ministers and permanent secretaries signed with the President in November 2023.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cThese parameters will guide the Quarterly Assessments and Annual Scorecards, which the CDCU is mandated to present to the President<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A top source, who spoke in confidence to The Nation, said: \u201c<em>The President may receive the first year performance evaluation of the ministers, advisers and even strategic departments\/agencies.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cThe CDCU has subjected the ministers and others to a quarterly assessment.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cFrom the outset, the ministers signed a performance bond. And the bond will determine their fate.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cThere was also a Citizens\u2019 Delivery Tracker App used to monitor the performance of the ministers and their portfolios.
