Dr. Bashir Jamoh, the former Director-General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), has declared his intention to contest the Kaduna North Senatorial seat in the upcoming 2027 general elections. His announcement was made during the sidelines of the Honorary Moot Court Appearance and Debate Competition organised by Precision Chambers at the Faculty of Law, Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria.<\/p>\n
Jamoh, who previously vied for the Kaduna State governorship in the 2023 elections, chose to step down of his own accord, supporting another candidate as advised. In his statements, Jamoh emphasised that he has begun consultations with key political stakeholders within his region to explore the possibility of running for the senatorial position. \u201cI have written to important stakeholders in the region regarding the request for me to seek an elective position,\u201d he said. \u201cMy stance is that I am prepared to offer myself for public service once again, but I am still consulting widely.\u201d<\/p>\n
Jamoh also took time to appreciate the efforts of students involved in organising the moot court and debate event, acknowledging its importance in fostering academic and civic engagement in Nigeria.<\/p>\n
