{"id":8325,"date":"2025-08-18T18:31:07","date_gmt":"2025-08-18T18:31:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/beadysword.com.ng\/blog\/?p=8325"},"modified":"2025-08-18T18:31:27","modified_gmt":"2025-08-18T18:31:27","slug":"nigerians-must-provide-5-years-social-media-history-for-visa-application-us-embassy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/beadysword.com.ng\/blog\/2025\/08\/18\/nigerians-must-provide-5-years-social-media-history-for-visa-application-us-embassy\/","title":{"rendered":"Nigerians must provide 5 years social media history for visa application \u2013 US Embassy"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"mvp-content-main\" class=\"left relative\">\n<p>The United States Mission in Nigeria has requested that visa applicants provide a full disclosure of their social media history when completing the DS-160 form.<\/p>\n<p>The Mission, in a tweet on its official X handle, emphasised that applicants must include all usernames or handles used on any platform within the last five years.<\/p>\n<p>The social media usernames or handles are to be listed in the DS-160 visa application form.<\/p>\n<div class=\"code-block code-block-18\">\n<div align=\"center\">\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-1524595905268-5\" data-google-query-id=\"CM74z63_lI8DFauCUAYd8oM4sQ\">\n<div id=\"google_ads_iframe_\/14001636\/DP_InsidePost_MPU_2_0__container__\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Additionally, the Mission stated that applicants must certify that the information they provided in their visa application form is true and correct before submission.<\/p>\n<p>In the tweet dated Monday, 18th August 2025, the Mission warned that omission of such information could put future travel plans to the US at risk.<\/p>\n<p>It further warned that incomplete or misleading entries would not be overlooked.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cVisa applicants are required to list all social media usernames or handles of every platform they have used from the last 5 years on the DS-160 visa application form.<\/p>\n<p>Applicants certify that the information in their visa application is true and correct before they sign and submit.
