{"id":8404,"date":"2025-08-21T16:47:04","date_gmt":"2025-08-21T16:47:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/beadysword.com.ng\/blog\/?p=8404"},"modified":"2025-08-21T16:47:19","modified_gmt":"2025-08-21T16:47:19","slug":"customs-seize-n905m-rolls-royce-other-contrabands-in-ogun","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/beadysword.com.ng\/blog\/2025\/08\/21\/customs-seize-n905m-rolls-royce-other-contrabands-in-ogun\/","title":{"rendered":"Customs seize N905m Rolls Royce, other contrabands in Ogun"},"content":{"rendered":"<section id=\"article-page\">\n<div class=\"container\">\n<div class=\"row\">\n<div class=\"col-lg-8\">\n<article class=\"single-article\">\n<div class=\"post-content\">\n<p>The Nigeria Customs Service, Ogun 1 Area Command, has impounded three exotic cars, including a 2021 Rolls-Royce Ghost with a duty paid value of N905m<\/p>\n<p>Others include a 2014 4matic Benz with a duty paid value of N21,423,400 and a 2018 model of Honda Accord with a duty paid value of N32,20,000<\/p>\n<p>Other contrabands seized within the period under review also included 4424 bags of foreign parboiled rice, which is over 7 truckloads, 1936 parcels of cannabis sativa, commonly known as marijuana, 105 used tyres, with the total duty paid value for all the seizures standing at N1,401,531,923.95.<\/p>\n<p>The Ogun 1 Area Command Controller, Comptroller Godwin Otunla, disclosed this at a briefing held in Idiroko on Thursday.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/article>\n<article class=\"single-article\">\n<div class=\"post-content\">\n<div><\/div>\n<p>Otunla said that the seizures were a fallout of the command\u2019s firm commitment not to relent in combating the menace of smuggling, nor bow to the antics of recalcitrant economic saboteurs who undermine our nation\u2019s economy and security.<\/p>\n<p>He explained that \u201cIn addition to these anti-smuggling feats, the Command also, in July 2025, generated a total revenue of N45,054,191.00, which is higher than the N35,327,852.00 recorded in the corresponding month of 2024. representing a commendable increase of 27.47%.<\/p>\n<div class=\"read-also\">\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>\u201cThis remarkable growth is a reflection of our enhanced compliance drive, improved monitoring of border activities and robust stakeholder engagement.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"ad-container desktop-only margin-top margin-bottom \">\n<div class=\"ad-container-inner\">\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-1652278950647-0\" class=\"punch-admanager\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1923920\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1923920\"><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-1923920\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Customs officers displaying some of the seized items. Photo: Taiwo Bankole<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>In line with the inter-agency collaboration framework, Otunla, also during the briefing, handed over the illicit drugs seized to the Commander of the NDLEA, Idiroko Special Command, Ekundayo William, for further investigation and necessary action<\/p>\n<p>Otunla has howeve,r reiterated that the fight against smuggling remains a collective responsibility, promising that the command would continue to build on collaboration, intelligence sharing, and innovation, in line with the policy thrust of the Comptroller General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, who has been consistent in his drive for consolidation, collaboration, and innovation.<\/p>\n<p>The Controller equally sounded a clear warning to the smugglers and their collaborators, pledging that the command will not relent in its crackdown against the economic saboteurs.<\/p>\n<p>He said, \u201cWe remain vigilant, resolute, and unyielding.
