We have been hearing that for a long time, but things are only getting worse. We are not solving our problems.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"code-block code-block-18\">\n<div align=\"center\">\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-1524595905268-5\" data-google-query-id=\"CLyTzNXpjJADFY_jEQgdYL8xMQ\">\n<div id=\"google_ads_iframe_\/14001636\/DP_InsidePost_MPU_2_0__container__\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>He added that President Tinubu cannot succeed in rebuilding Nigeria unless he replaces the 1999 Constitution, which he described as a product of military rule.<\/p>\n<p>Pearse argued that Nigeria\u2019s challenges stem from an \u201cillegitimate 1999 Constitution,\u201d which he described as a \u201cmilitary-imposed document\u201d that has hindered growth, weakened security, and concentrated too much power in the hands of the federal government.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe 1999 Constitution is a fabrication of the military. It does not represent democracy or development,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor 26 years, it has restrained economic growth and left states unable to develop their resources.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He urged the federal government to revisit the recommendations of the 2014 National Conference, stressing that Nigeria does not need another expensive confab but the political will to implement past agreements.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe must devolve power to the states. Let them develop their human and material resources without begging the federal government for permission,\u201d he said. \u201cThis constitution keeps all major minerals in an exclusive list controlled by Abuja, and that\u2019s why our economy is not growing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He also raised the alarm over Nigeria\u2019s worsening security situation, saying the country is gradually drifting into a failed state.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTerrorists control many parts of Nigeria.
