The Apapa Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has set a new benchmark in revenue collection, raking in an unprecedented \u20a6304 billion in October 2025 \u2014 the highest monthly revenue ever recorded by any customs command in the history of the Service.<\/p>\n
This figure surpasses the \u20a6264 billion collected in October 2024 and brings the Command\u2019s total revenue for the first ten months of 2025 to an impressive \u20a62.4 trillion (\u20a62,402,141,493,747.06). With two months still left in the year, the Command has already exceeded its total 2024 collection, marking a major milestone in its performance trajectory.<\/p>\n
Customs Area Controller (CAC), Comptroller Emmanuel Oshoba, attributed the achievement to the dedication of officers and the support of stakeholders, describing it as \u201cjust the beginning of greater revenue generation exploits\u201d under his leadership.<\/p>\n
According to Comptroller Oshoba, the record-breaking performance reflects the Command\u2019s growing capacity to process higher trade volumes \u2014 a development that will translate into even greater returns for the federal government.<\/p>\n
He revealed that officers have been sensitized and prepared for the upcoming Drive-Through Scanning regime, which is expected to process an average of 150 containers per hour from the quayside \u2014 a move he described as \u201crevolutionary for trade facilitation in any West African port.\u201d<\/p>\n
Following in-house training for newly promoted Deputy and Assistant Comptrollers, Oshoba said the Command is poised to deliver optimal results in line with the vision of the Comptroller General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, MFR.<\/p>\n
\u201cI commend my officers and our compliant stakeholders for this milestone, but this is not our final destination,\u201d he said. \u201cWe are fully deploying all trade facilitation tools, including the One-Stop-Shop (OSS) system, which harmonizes customs procedures to enhance efficiency and save time \u2014 while also ensuring strict measures against revenue leakages.\u201d<\/p>\n
The CAC emphasized the Command\u2019s zero-tolerance stance on infractions, particularly in the use of Demand Notices (DNs) to recover revenue shortfalls and in monitoring for any attempts to misapply the Harmonized System (HS) Codes for duty evasion.<\/p>\n
Reaffirming his commitment to smooth port operations, Oshoba said he has conducted unannounced visits to port access roads to encourage truckers, freight forwarders, and licensed customs agents to cooperate with the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) in ensuring prompt evacuation of cleared consignments.<\/p>\n
\u201cIf cleared goods are not moved out promptly, it slows down the processing of new consignments, which in turn affects trade facilitation and revenue collection,\u201d he explained. \u201cWe need the support of all stakeholders to sustain and build on our achievements.\u201d<\/p>\n
Comptroller Oshoba concluded with a message of optimism:<\/p>\n
