The former Minister of Education, Oby Ezekwesili, has vowed never to sing the newly adopted national anthem, \u2018Nigeria, we hail thee\u2019.<\/p>\n

Ezekwesili said she would continue singing the previous national anthem, \u2018Arise, O compatriots\u2019.<\/p>\n

Her remark was in response to President Bola Tinubu\u2019s confirmation of \u2018Nigeria, we hail thee\u2019 as the latest national anthem.<\/p>\n

Posting on X, Ezekwesili wrote: \u201cLet it be known to all and sundry that I, Obiageli \u201cOby\u201d Ezekwesili will whenever asked to sing the Nigerian National Anthem sing:<\/p>\n

1. Arise, O compatriots, Nigeria\u2019s call obey
\nTo serve our fatherland
\nWith love and strength and faith
\nThe labour of our heroes past
\nShall never be in vain
\nTo serve with heart and might
\nOne nation bound in freedom, peace and unity.<\/p>\n

2. Oh God of creation, direct our noble cause
\nGuide our leader\u2019s right
\nHelp our youth the truth to know
\nIn love and honesty to grow
\nAnd living just and true
\nGreat lofty heights attain
\nTo build a nation where peace and justice reign.<\/p>\n

She added: \u201cThis is my own National Anthem and let it be known that no one can suppress my right to dissent an obnoxious \u201claw\u201d that is repugnant to all that is of good conscience in Nigeria. Whatever else is #NotMyNationalAnthem.\u201d<\/p>\n
