{"id":9848,"date":"2025-12-10T10:44:57","date_gmt":"2025-12-10T10:44:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/beadysword.com.ng\/blog\/?p=9848"},"modified":"2025-12-10T23:15:55","modified_gmt":"2025-12-10T23:15:55","slug":"abacha-loots-efcc-detains-ex-agf-malami","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/beadysword.com.ng\/blog\/2025\/12\/10\/abacha-loots-efcc-detains-ex-agf-malami\/","title":{"rendered":"Abacha loots: EFCC detains ex-AGF Malami"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"mvp-content-body-top\" class=\"left relative\">\n<div id=\"mvp-content-main\" class=\"left relative\">\n<p>The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has detained a former Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, after he failed to meet the bail conditions granted to him.<\/p>\n<p>According to the News Agency of Nigeria, a source from the commission confirmed the development, stating that Malami remained in custody until 10 pm on Tuesday for failing to comply with the bail requirements.<\/p>\n<p>The former minister has been asked by the anti-graft agency to account for issues relating to money laundering, particularly the operation of suspicious accounts.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have detained him over terrorism financing, and the whereabouts of Abacha loot recovered from Switzerland and the Island of Jersey in the UK. He would remain in custody until he fulfils the requirements.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe arrested him for not meeting his bail conditions, and he will remain in our custody until he meets those conditions. He is presently in our custody. He was initially granted bail but did not meet the conditions. The offences against him are many,\u201d the EFCC source said.<\/p>\n<p>The anti-graft agency had instructed the former minister to appear daily for interrogation throughout December.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPresently, we are investigating him for 18 different offences.
