Celebrating Leadership: Adewale Adeniyi Receives The Sun Newspaper Public Service Award

Adewale Adeniyi, the Comptroller General of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), has been honored with the prestigious Sun Newspaper Public Service Award, recognizing his exemplary leadership and significant contributions to national development.

 

The award ceremony took place on Saturday, March 1, 2025,  at Eko Hotel and suit in Lagos, and attracted a notable gathering of dignitaries, including Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume, Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Management Festus Keyamo, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Ambassador Bianca Ojukwu, Governor of Anambra State Prof Chukwuma Soludo, former Governor of Kano State and National Chairman of the APC Alhaji Abdullahi Ganduje, among other influential figures from various sectors.

 

During his speech at the event, Adeniyi as a recipient, expressed that receiving such recognition serves as a powerful motivation for the NCS to enhance their service delivery in crucial areas, including trade facilitation, revenue generation, and national security. He stated, “This kind of recognition is very encouraging and inspiring.

 

We contribute our quota to development, revenue generation, trade facilitation, and security through our core mandates. This is a call for better service delivery, for us to do more than we are doing, and we are ready for that in 2025.”

 

In addition to this noteworthy accolade, Adeniyi announced ambitious plans to launch a series of corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives aimed at positively impacting the communities where customs officers serve. He noted, “By the grace of God, we will be doing more that will impact our communities through Corporate Social Responsibility programmes that we are going to be launching in about two weeks. This is going to be community-focused, and we are going to be anchoring it on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the eight priority areas of President Bola Tinubu.”

 

Adewale Adeniyi’s commitment to service and community development demonstrates the vital role of the Nigeria Customs Service in fostering national growth and supporting the communities they serve. As he embarks on this new chapter of initiatives, the NCS is poised to lead in transformative ways that benefit all Nigerians.
