The Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Policy Communication, Daniel Bwala, has said that Governor Siminalayi Fubara is the recognised leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State.
Speaking on Channels Television’s Hard Copy, Bwala clarified that former governor Nyesom Wike is not a member of the APC and therefore cannot speak for the party in the state.
According to him, while Wike may still influence within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the leadership of the APC in Rivers belongs to Governor Fubara.
Bwala also stated that President Tinubu respects the rule of law and party procedures, and fully supports the position of the APC leadership on the Rivers political situation.
On the attempted impeachment of Governor Fubara, he said the party’s position is clear and that the governor should be allowed to carry out his duties without interference, noting that court orders have already stopped the process.
He further explained that Wike’s role as Minister of the Federal Capital Territory does not make him a leader within the APC, as he serves the federal government and not the party.
Governor Fubara, who defected from the PDP to the APC in December 2025, has since been recognised by the party as its leader in Rivers State and endorsed for a second term in 2027.
