Residents of Nyamgo Gyel in Jos South Local Government Area, Plateau State, are demanding urgent action after an attack in their community left three people dead and one other person injured. and an inhuman act by Nigerian soldiers.

According to reports, the victims were ambushed at about 7 p.m. as they returned from Gero after visiting a mining site. The attack was reportedly carried out with a motorbike, and the residents say the incident quickly sparked anger and fear in the area.

The names of those killed were given as Luka Pam (36), Samuel Davou (38), and Deme Saidu (35). The community also alleged that this latest violence followed earlier fears that security measures had been insufficient when they previously raised complaints.

Residents say their frustration has been building—especially after claims that soldiers detained people and demanded money over the death of a cow. They now argue that while they have been pressured to “pay” for certain incidents, they feel the same level of seriousness has not been shown when people in the community are attacked and killed.

A youth leader in the community also made wider allegations about insecurity, including claims that Fulani herders restrict access to ancestral land. He said daily life has become harder and more dangerous, with even women and young people moving cautiously to avoid being caught up in violence.

The leader warned that the community’s patience is running out and urged state and federal authorities and security agencies to intervene urgently. He stressed that residents want protection and accountability, not more delays after killings.

The incident comes amid renewed attention on Plateau State, including follow-up reactions after a recent deadly attack in the region and the President’s visit to the state after the violence reported in parts of the state.
