Lagos police have confirmed the death of a suspected cult leader, Adedipe Adeyinkan—also known as Yinka Agali—who was shot on Saturday, April 11, 2026.

According to police, the incident happened in Surulere, Lagos. Eyewitnesses reported hearing gunshots near the National Stadium Bridge. Officers later found Agali with gunshot wounds inside an unregistered Mercedes-Benz.

He was taken to Mainland General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Police also said an unregistered Ford Edge was found abandoned at the scene. Investigators are now working to identify and track down those responsible.

Why he may have been targeted. Reports suggest the killing may be linked to cult rivalries. There are also concerns that it could involve political motives connected to upcoming local elections.

Family takes possession of the body. After the incident, the victim’s family took possession of his body. They were reported as not seeking legal action at the time of the report.

Separate warning on online job scams

In a related update, Lagos State Police also confirmed a robbery incident involving job seekers. The command urged the public—especially people searching for work—to be cautious of online job offers and to avoid trusting suspicious advertisements or messages.
