Tragedy in Plateau: 13 Killed, Including Pregnant Women, in Fresh Attack
At least 13 people were killed and many others injured when gunmen attacked the Ngbra Zongo community in Kwall District, Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State. The attack happened around midnight on Friday while residents were asleep.
According to a community member, Philip Alanga, the attackers stormed the area and began shooting randomly, moving from house to house and attacking innocent people. The sudden violence threw residents into panic and forced many to flee.
Another resident, Chigoji Rocku, revealed that three of those killed were pregnant women.
Danjuma Auta, Secretary General of the Irigwe Development Association, confirmed the attack and described it as tragic and condemnable. He lamented that such attacks have become a recurring problem in Bassa LGA and other parts of the state.
Auta called on security agencies to do more to protect lives and property in rural communities. He also urged operatives to quickly track down those responsible and ensure justice is served to prevent further violence.
As of the time of this report, Captain Polycarp Oteh of Operation Enduring Peace and SP Alabo Alfred of the State Police Command had not responded to requests for comment.
