The Katsina State Government has confirmed that a former Senior Special Assistant on Community Development, Nura Garwa, is under investigation for his alleged involvement in a kidnapping syndicate.

Garwa is one of the suspects paraded by the Katsina State Police Command over the kidnapping of an eight-year-old boy at Sardauna Estate in Katsina metropolis.

Before this incident, Garwa had already been suspended from his position. According to the state’s Commissioner for Information and Culture, Salisu Zango, Garwa was suspended for diverting empowerment materials meant for communities in Batsari Local Government Area under the state’s Community Development Programme.

After his suspension, Garwa went on to contest for a seat in the Katsina State House of Assembly.

Governor Dikko Umaru Radda described the situation as unfortunate, especially because it involves a public figure who even ran for a legislative seat. He commended the police and other security agencies for their efforts and called on the public to support security measures by reporting suspicious activities.
