The governorship candidates of two political parties in Taraba State have pushed back against a Federal High Court ruling that ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to deregister their parties.

Professor Jerome Nyameh of the Accord Party and Alhaji Abubakar Tutare of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) dismissed the ruling, which alleged their parties failed to meet statutory requirements.

Both candidates stressed that the ruling is a first-instance decision and is subject to appeal. They noted that higher courts, including the Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court, remain available to resolve the matter.

They urged their supporters to remain calm and confident in their parties’ continued relevance and ongoing political activities.

Nyameh highlighted the involvement of notable political figures like Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke as evidence of the party’s strength. Tutare reassured his supporters that the ADC maintains its legal standing and political relevance.
