Some People Don’t Just Want Peter Obi on the 2027 Ballot — NDC National Secretary

The National Secretary of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Ikenna Enekweizu, has raised concerns that certain individuals are trying to prevent the party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, from contesting in the 2027 general elections. He believes these moves are driven by fear of defeat at the polls.

This follows a recent ruling by the Federal High Court in Lokoja, which overturned an earlier judgment that had ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to register the NDC. The new ruling effectively nullified actions taken based on the previous court order.

Enekweizu clarified that the court did not deregister the NDC. He expressed confidence that their fight against what he called “tyranny” would prevail.

The ruling was delivered by Justice Isah Dashen. It was influenced by the rights of the Peace Movement Party (PMP), which claimed ownership of the logo that was central to the earlier judgment. The PMP had not been included in the original lawsuit.
