Suspended Lagos Police Commissioner Fatai now Over Attendance Of APC ‘City Boys Movement’ Ahead Of 2027 Elections

A viral video showing Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Tijani Fatai, attending the inauguration of City Boy Movement’s Lagos chapter has triggered widespread backlash.

The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) condemned the CP’s presence at what they describe as a partisan event, raising concerns about potential bias ahead of the 2027 general elections. The group called for his suspension and urged the police chief to commit to neutrality.

City Boy Movement is a group aligned with President Bola Tinubu’s agenda. It focuses on youth engagement and mobilising voter support.

Social media reactions have been mixed. Some Nigerians questioned whether it was appropriate for the Commissioner of Police to attend the event, while others defended his presence, arguing it was a routine security measure.

The Lagos State Police Command has not yet issued an official response to the incident.
