Seun Kuti and His Repeated Attacks on Peter Obi: A Pattern Worth Questioning

Seun Kuti is once again making headlines over his comments about Peter Obi.

In 2023, during the presidential election campaign, Kuti described Obi as an “opportunist” and argued that he could not deliver Nigeria.

Now, in 2026, Kuti is again placing Obi in the same political category as Bola Tinubu, saying: “Peter Obi is not different from Tinubu. They’re all the same.” He explained his position by arguing that both operate within what he considers a capitalist and exploitative political system.

That is certainly his political position, and he is entitled to hold it. But Nigerians are equally entitled to examine the consistency and basis of his repeated attacks on Obi.

The question is simple: Why does Peter Obi repeatedly attract such strong criticism from seun Kuti, even when the political circumstances have changed? He still sounds bigoted

In 2023, when Obi’s candidacy was generating significant public enthusiasm, Kuti called him an opportunist. Three years later, with the 2027 political conversation already gathering momentum, he is again insisting that Obi is no different from Tinubu.

Criticism of any politician is legitimate.  But criticism should be judged on evidence, consistency and the actual records of the individuals involved—not on personalities, ethnic sentiments or political hostility.

Nigerians should therefore examine the records of Peter Obi, Bola Tinubu and every other political figure independently, rather than simply accepting the declarations of celebrities, politicians or online influencers.

Political opinions belong to individuals. The facts belong to everyone. Nigerians deserve the opportunity to examine those facts for themselves.Seun kuti should stop forcing his opinion down on Nigerians,
