The Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) and the National Hydrographic Agency have partnered to improve maritime safety by promoting the use of locally produced nautical charts.

At a recent meeting, Rear Admiral Olumide Fadahunsi, the nation’s Hydrographer, commended NIMASA’s efforts and promised continued support for hydrographic services. He noted that using locally gathered hydrographic data will improve navigation safety and boost maritime security.

Dr Dayo Mobereola, NIMASA’s Director General, said the agency is focusing on better infrastructure, stronger enforcement, and capacity building in hydrographic services. He stressed that teamwork between agencies is essential for safer waterways.

The partnership aims to strengthen maritime administration and ensure the availability of accurate navigational charts for safe operations, in line with the NIMASA Act.
