Shippers’ Council Steps In, Resolves Berthing Dispute Between SIFAX Group and AGL Logistics
The Nigerian Shippers’ Council has once again demonstrated its regulatory muscle—this time by swiftly stepping in to resolve a dispute between SIFAX Group and AGL Logistics over the berthing of a vessel operated by AGL Logistics.
Dr Akutah Pius, the Executive Secretary and CEO of the Council, personally intervened in the matter, bringing both parties to the table. In a statement following the intervention, the Council said the move reaffirms its commitment to smooth port operations, trade facilitation, and industrial peace in the maritime sector.
The Council stressed the importance of making the best use of terminal facilities and protecting Nigeria’s maritime reputation through stronger collaboration among industry players.
At the end of the engagement, both sides reached a mutual agreement on cargo evacuation and improved operational synergy.
Management teams from SIFAX and AGL expressed appreciation for the Council’s quick response, commending Dr Akutah Pius and the Shippers’ Council for their effective regulatory role.
