Lekki Port Phase 2 Development Set to Begin – Sanwo-Olu

Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has announced that work on Phase 2 of the Lekki Port will start soon, marking another step in the state’s push to become a major maritime logistics hub in West Africa.

Speaking at the Invest Lagos Summit 3.0, Sanwo-Olu highlighted the port’s importance in expanding cargo handling capacity and supporting Nigeria’s participation in the African Continental Free Trade Area. With AfCFTA giving Nigerian businesses access to a market of 1.4 billion people and a combined GDP of $3 trillion, the port expansion is key to meeting growing demand and improving overall logistics efficiency.

Wang Qiang, Managing Director of Lekki Port, praised the state government for creating a favourable investment environment, calling the Phase 2 development a major move that will strengthen Lekki Port’s role in global trade.
