Lawyer Calls for Arrest of Gbajabiamila, Accountant-General, and Head of Service Over Fake Agency Scandal
Human rights lawyer and public affairs analyst Maxwell has called for the arrest of Femi Gbajabiamila, President Bola Tinubu’s Chief of Staff, along with the Accountant-General of the Federation, Shamseldeen Ogunjimi, and the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Esther Walson-Jack.
Speaking on Arise Television on Tuesday, Maxwell insisted that no one is above the law.
His comments come after the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) invited and questioned Gbajabiamila on Monday over the case.
Okpara said an office was given to a fake agency, an account was opened for it, and someone acted as its director. That person, identified as Adeyemi Adeniyi, is now in police custody.
“The question is who are the suspects?” Maxwell asked.
“We have the principal suspect, the alleged fake director, Mr Adeyemi Adeniyi, who is now with the police. There are some other suspects — Gbajabiamila, the AGF, and the HoS. All these people should be arrested.”
He noted that while the Chief of Staff was invited to make a statement, none of the top officials has been arrested like the principal suspect.
“Nobody is above the law. None of these persons is above the law. None of them is enjoying immunity. One expected that the proper thing to do is to arrest all of them,” he said.
