More than 500 kidney patients gathered at the Enugu State University Teaching Hospital (ESUTH), Parklane, Enugu, following an invitation by humanitarian and philanthropist Mr Okoh Emmanuel Onyeka, popularly known as Okwuluora, to provide financial assistance toward their dialysis treatment.

In a video shared on his Facebook page on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, Okwuluora disclosed that some Igbo sons and daughters had provided funds for him to distribute to kidney patients in need of financial support. for their treatment

He also revealed that a prominent figure from Ala Igbo was expected to join him in meeting with the beneficiaries.

Following the invitation, more than 500 kidney patients reportedly turned up at the hospital premises, highlighting the significant financial burden faced by many patients who depend on regular dialysis treatment.

This is reportedly the fourth time in the past month that Okwuluora has organised a similar support initiative for kidney patients. On each occasion, the number of patients who respond to his invitation has been described as overwhelming.

The humanitarian initiative also received the support of former Anambra State Governor and 2023 presidential candidate, His Excellency Peter Obi, who was present to lend his support to Okwuluora and the ongoing humanitarian effort aimed at assisting kidney patients.

The growing turnout at these events underscores the urgent need for greater support for patients battling kidney-related illnesses, particularly those struggling to meet the cost of continuous dialysis.

Okwuluora’s initiative has continued to attract attention as an example of community-driven humanitarian intervention, with contributions from individuals and groups being channelled toward helping vulnerable patients access critical medical care.
