Customs Zone ‘C’ Intercepts 3,310 Jerrycans of Smuggled Vegetable Oil Worth N403.4 Million
The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) Federal Operations Unit (FOU) Zone C, headquartered in Owerri, has recorded a major enforcement success, intercepting a large consignment of smuggled vegetable oil valued at over N403 millioAccording to a statement from the command, operatives seized 3,310 jerrycans of 25-litre “Super Delicious” vegetable oil, along with additional smaller containers, during two separate operations in early June 2026.
The interception was made possible through credible intelligence. Two trucks carrying the smuggled items were stopped at different locations, and investigations are ongoing to identify those behind the illegal operation.
Comptroller Bishir Balogun, who leads Zone C, described the operation as a significant crackdown on economic sabotage. He reiterated the command’s commitment to enforcing the provisions of the NCS Act 2022 and protecting the local market from the damaging effects of smuggling.
Legal proceedings will commence in due course regarding the seized items, as the service continues its efforts to safeguard the nation’s economy.
