NDC Deregistration: Obi, Kwankwaso Lead Appeal Battle

The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) is preparing to appeal a Federal High Court ruling in Lokoja that cancelled its registration with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Party leaders, including presidential candidate Peter Obi and national leader Seriake Dickson, held emergency meetings to plan their legal strategy ahead of the appeal.

Opposition figures have criticised the ruling, describing it as an attempt to weaken democratic processes ahead of the 2027 elections. NDC officials say they are confident the ruling will be overturned, calling it unprecedented and lacking legal foundation.

Kwankwaso, a prominent party member, reaffirmed the NDC’s resilience and called for unity among supporters.

The party aims to overcome these legal challenges while maintaining its position as a key opposition force in Nigeria, especially following recent defections to the party.
