The Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) and the Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA) are strengthening their partnership to improve business operations, reduce congestion at the Apapa and Tin Can Island ports, and speed up cargo evacuation.

This was confirmed during talks at the NPA headquarters. NPA’s Managing Director, Dr. Abubakar Dantsoho, noted that recent improvements have helped these ports rank among the World Bank’s Top 20 Most Improved Ports. This reflects broader reforms aligned with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s agenda and Nigeria’s growing role in global maritime governance.

Key discussions focused on the Electronic Call-Up System (Eto), which manages truck access to the ports. Both parties agreed on the need for better frameworks to tackle gridlock caused by rising trade volumes. Dr Dantsoho also stressed the importance of modernising ageing infrastructure to meet international standards.

ANLCA’s President, Chief Emenike Nwokeoji, praised NPA’s achievements and emphasised the association’s role in trade facilitation and monitoring truck movements, endorsing collaborative efforts to improve port access.
