Apapa Customs Seizes ₦26.5 Billion Worth of Cannabis Indica Hidden Inside Imported Vehicles
The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), working alongside the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), has intercepted a massive shipment of Cannabis Indica valued at ₦26.57 billion at the Apapa Port.
The seizure took place on July 10, 2026, during a routine examination of a 40-foot container. Inside, officers discovered three used vehicles and 162 bags containing 8,287 parcels of the illicit substance, weighing a total of 4,143.5 kg.
The operation was based on credible intelligence that led customs officials to the container. Comptroller Emmanuel Oshoba, the Apapa Area Command Customs chief, emphasised the importance of the seizure in protecting public health and reaffirmed the Command’s zero-tolerance policy toward illegal trade.
He reiterated the Command’s commitment to facilitating legitimate commerce while strictly enforcing the law against prohibited goods. The container has been seized in accordance with the Nigeria Customs Service Act 2023.
