Gunmen Abduct Principal, Students During NECO Exams in Kogi

On July 14, 2026, gunmen stormed Government Secondary School, Odo-Ekina, in Kogi State. They abducted the school principal, a NECO ad hoc staff member, and four students while they were in the middle of their examinations.

The police have confirmed the incident and stated that a coordinated search-and-rescue operation is currently underway. One student has already been successfully rescued. Security forces, including the police, military personnel, and community policing members, are actively pursuing the assailants and working to ensure the safety of the remaining victims.

In a separate but related development, the body of a Federal Road Safety Corps official was also abducted but has since been recovered. Police operations continue in an effort to apprehend the perpetrators behind both incidents.
