Dispatch Rider Killed in Lagos After Resisting Extortion

A 32-year-old dispatch rider, Emmanuel Jegede, has died after being pushed off his motorcycle by suspected extortionists on Ikotun-Idimu Road in Lagos State.

The incident happened when two hoodlums attempted to stop him and demand money following a minor accident he had with a tricycle rider. That earlier accident had already been resolved amicably between both parties.

Eyewitnesses said the hoodlums blocked his path and tried to force him to pay. During the struggle, Jegede lost control of his motorcycle and crashed into a median. He died from injuries sustained in the crash.

The Lagos State Police Command confirmed the incident. They stated that the crash was genuine but noted that investigations are ongoing. Conflicting accounts have emerged, with some witnesses suggesting the hoodlums may have physically attacked Jegede before the crash.

Police are currently seeking CCTV footage from the area to clarify the exact circumstances surrounding his death.
