Operatives of the Nigeria Police Force reportedly invaded the residence of Alalade Bukola Félix, popularly known as Machiavelli, a Special Assistant on Media to Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, in the early hours of Monday and allegedly took him away after forcing their way into the property.

According to information gathered by SaharaReporters, the incident occurred at about 1:00 a.m., when armed police officers reportedly arrived at Alalade’s residence and demanded that he come outside.

A voice note said to have captured the incident recorded Alalade asking the officers to identify themselves while pleading with them to allow him to come out voluntarily. However, moments later, sounds believed to be those of the officers forcing open the door were reportedly heard before they gained access to the residence.

Alalade’s wife, Folakemi, could also reportedly be heard pleading with the officers not to take her husband away. The officers allegedly shouted at her and warned her against interfering.

The circumstances surrounding the arrest and Alalade’s whereabouts were not immediately clear at the time of filing this report.

Meanwhile, there are allegations that the operation was carried out by the Osun State Police Command amid what critics describe as an increasing clampdown on members and supporters of opposition political parties by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

The police and other relevant authorities had yet to publicly respond to the allegations or provide an official explanation for the operation.
