The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) at the Seme Area Command has generated N19.84 billion in revenue between January and July 2026. That’s a 24.45% increase compared to the N15.94 billion collected during the same period last year.

commptroller Abdullahi Shuaibu Kaila attributed the growth to better compliance by traders and stronger enforcement against smuggling.

In a major security development, the Command intercepted 3,300 cartridges of explosive materials—a clear national security concern. Officers also seized 1,306 sacks of expired noodles believed to be destined for repackaging and resale.

Other confiscated items included illicit drugs, foreign rice, and vehicles.

The Command said it remains committed to fighting smuggling while making trade easier, working closely with security agencies and regulatory bodies in the process.

Kaila stressed that Seme is no longer a viable route for smugglers.
