Nigerians are urging the Inspector-General of Police, Tunji Disu, to arrest Senator Fadahunsi immediately. The senator, who represents Osun East, is accused of threatening members of the Accord Party ahead of Saturday’s governorship election in Osun State.

A video on social media reportedly shows the lawmaker, a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), addressing party supporters who were protesting alleged attacks on APC members in Ilesa. In the video, the senator is said to have urged supporters to attack Accord Party members wherever they are found and stop them from voting.

The remarks have caused widespread outrage, with many people demanding the senator’s arrest and prosecution. There are also growing concerns about voter safety ahead of the election.

An APC chieftain, Babafemi Ojudu, called on the police chief to act, describing the alleged comments as unacceptable in a democracy. “This is unacceptable in a democracy. Not even in the heyday of military rule would a military person talk like this. IGP Tunde Disu, over to you. We await action,” he wrote on Facebook.

Osun State Governor and Accord Party candidate, Ademola Adeleke, also demanded the lawmaker’s immediate arrest and prosecution. Adeleke said the issue has gone beyond politics and is now a national security threat that requires the attention of President Bola Tinubu through the Office of the National Security Adviser.

“I have raised this issue with the IGP and demanded the immediate investigation and arrest of Senator Fadahunsi. The IGP has confirmed the video and assured me of immediate action,” Adeleke said.

However, Fadahunsi has denied the allegation. In an interview with TVC News on Tuesday night, he claimed the viral video was generated using artificial intelligence.

“The video being circulated by Davido and his group is AI-generated,” he said.
