Customs Boss Releases N7.61 Billion for 4,237 Retired Officers’ Pensions

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has paid N7.61 billion into the accounts of nine Pension Fund Administrators (PFAs) to clear pension obligations for 4,237 retired officers.

Comptroller-General Adewale Adeniyi confirmed the payment during a dialogue session with retired personnel on July 14, 2026. The funds were distributed across multiple PFAs, with Premium Pension managing the largest share of beneficiaries.

Speaking at the meeting, Adeniyi stressed that maintaining financial stability is key to ensuring the service meets its obligations to retired staff. He encouraged open communication between the NCS and its retirees to address any concerns.

The session was attended by top management officials and forms part of ongoing efforts to improve pension provisions. Adeniyi noted that the service is reviewing processes to enhance welfare for retirees in line with federal government directives.
